Aging [(c) 1983] Religious Poem

Lazed out on my couch
I wonder, Have I lived
to overripen?

A fly
tries to tell me something
I don’t
want to hear

while I remember, without nostalgia
days I had the faith
to curse God.

I’ve decided
to live with myself
saying ‘thank
You!’ for my
daily peanut butter.
